When we talk about behavior, we cannot separate it from physical health. My approach is simple: rule out the medical first. ### Why Medical Comes First Dogs mask pain perfectly; it is an instinct. Whether it is sudden reactivity or a refusal to eat, these are often red flags. I have seen countless cases where a simple annual blood test, like the one we did for Pinni, revealed issues before they became emergencies. If your dog is over six, I recommend blood work every six months. It is not just routine; it is proactive care. ### Seasonal Care & Safety Living in the NCR, our dogs face extreme shifts. - **Summers:** It is not just about keeping them cool. It is about avoiding hot pavement, adjusting walk times, and offering enrichment like frozen treats to prevent heatstroke. - **Diwali:** This is often a terrifying time. I focus on visual barriers and creating a safe soundscape—calming music or white noise—so they feel secure. ### Quality of Life I firmly believe in listening to what the dog needs at every life stage. When my senior dog Noddy could no longer walk due to arthritis, we didn't just give up on walks. We got him a pram so he could still sniff the air and see the world. When shopping for treats, read the labels. Look for single-ingredient items.
