I don't make standard tableware. These are pieces born from the wheel, carved and shaped to live as art in your space. Whether it is a moon jar or my erotic cup series, every curve has a story.

## About Sculptural & Statement Pieces

When I make a moon jar or a sculptural jug, I don't chase perfection—I chase balance. You might see a small variation in the glaze or a slight lean in the form, and that is exactly the point. It means the piece is alive, not factory-made. If you choose one of these for your home, remember it is meant to stand out, not blend into the background.

### My Approach to Clay

I believe an artist ka matlab hai galti karna (being an artist means making mistakes). If I try to force the clay to be symmetrical, it loses its soul. My sculptural work, like the moon jars you see here, is inspired by traditional Korean forms but influenced by the unpredictable energy of the kiln. I use grogged clay bodies to give them structural strength, and I often experiment with surface techniques like Sgraffito or Mishima inlay to add depth.

### Why Sculptural Pottery?

People often ask if my large statement vessels or 'Erotic Cups' are functional. The answer is yes and no. They are designed to hold space. Whether it is a hand-sculpted human figure on a lid or a textured globe vase, these pieces are meant to be conversation starters. They aren't just objects on a shelf; they are markers of a moment in the studio.

### The Process

Every piece goes through a slow, deliberate journey.

* **Forming:** Some are thrown on the wheel, while others are hand-built. For pieces like my 'Human Jars', I focus on figurative details, sculpting heads and limbs while the clay is leather-hard.
* **Glazing & Firing:** This is where the magic happens. I double-fire my stoneware, reaching temperatures above 1200°C. For Raku pieces, I pull the work out while it is red-hot to create those dramatic, metallic crackle effects.

If you are looking for something specific—a sculpture for your living room corner or a custom vessel for your desk—let's talk. I enjoy commissions that push me to try new shapes.

## About The Potter's Life

I’m Suvajit. I have spent years chasing the shape of clay, from the colleges of Kolkata to my current studio here in Jona Pur. I believe pottery should make you feel something, whether it is a quiet moon jar or a bold sculptural piece that starts a conversation.
