We always teach our students to leave a one hair line gap. This tiny space is the secret to avoiding lifting and ensuring your extensions stay on for weeks. Mastering the apex is the biggest hurdle for new artists. The apex provides the structural strength needed to support long extensions. Without it, the nail will break or bend. We teach our students to build the apex layer by layer, whether you are using the one-bead or three-bead acrylic method. If your bead is too runny, it will flood the cuticle and cause lifting. If it is too dry, you won't have enough time to smooth it out before it hardens. We explain exactly how to control your brush pressure and bead size during our sessions. We also cover the essential techniques for real-world issues. For example, we teach how to use builder gel and acrylic powder together for added strength, or the correct way to clean your brushes using monomer and acetone so they last for years.
