What sets us apart is how we break down complex choreography into achievable, high-energy movements for every skill level. You will not find rigid, repetitive drills that ignore your individual body type. Instead, we focus on helping you connect with the music, understand stage presence, and ultimately, find a personal style that feels authentic to your own energy, whether you are in the studio or performing on a big stage. At The Backyard Groovers, we believe that technique is only the foundation; the real magic happens when you start to experiment. Our 'Dance Lab' approach is designed to demystify different dance forms, including Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, and Bollywood. ### Why a Dance Lab? Most studios focus purely on rote learning. We treat our studio in Sushant Lok and Palam Vihar as a space for creative inquiry. We encourage students to ask 'why' a movement works, to explore the narrative behind the music, and to get comfortable with the uncomfortable. ### Styles We Master - **Hip Hop & Street:** We focus on foundational grooves, attitude, and the history behind the movement. - **Jazz & Broadway:** This is where we bring in theatricality, character work, and strong lines, often using props like chairs to elevate the storytelling. - **Contemporary:** We explore organic movement, partner work, and emotional expression, often training dancers to perform lifts and extensions with control. ### From Studio to Stage We do not believe dance belongs only behind closed doors. Our signature annual show, 'ABUNDANCE,' is where our philosophy comes to life. We take over 150 students—many of whom are first-timers—and put them through a professional production process. This includes everything from costume and lighting design to stagecraft. You aren't just learning a routine; you are learning how to command a stage, project your energy to an audience, and perform with confidence.
