Removing color distractions pulls the focus directly to the baby's face, creating a clean, dramatic, and artistic look that remains classic long after your child has grown. ### Why Black and White? Newborns are beautiful in color, but black and white photography offers a different kind of depth. When we remove color, we lose the distractions that can pull the eye away from the subject. This style highlights the subtle details: the curve of an eyelash, the texture of the swaddle, and the quiet serenity of a sleeping baby. It turns a standard portrait into an artistic piece that feels timeless and appropriate for any wall in your home. ### The Artistic Process It is not just about turning down the saturation. I specifically shoot and edit these images to maximize contrast and tone. We focus on soft, directional lighting in the studio to ensure the skin tones remain smooth while the shadows add dimension. Whether it is a macro shot of tiny toes or a full-body basket pose, the result is an image that feels intimate and focused. ### Can We Mix Styles? Absolutely. Many families choose a hybrid approach. During a session, we can capture a range of classic poses in full color to document the specific props or outfits we used, and then select your favorite portraits for a black and white finish. This gives you the best of both worlds: the vibrant, playful setup shots and the moody, emotional, classic portraits. If you have a specific preference for this style, let me know before the shoot, and I will tailor the lighting to enhance that dramatic effect. ## About The Baby Story by Shree I'm Shree, and I believe some of the most powerful moments are captured in simple black and white.
