It is because the production must be built around your child, not a pre-written script. If I don't know who is in the room—their unique energy, their hesitation, and their specific ways of expressing—I cannot truly challenge them. We do not rush into performances because my goal is not just to put on a show; it is to ensure every child understands the character they play, rather than just reciting lines from memory. ### Why Process Matters More Than Performance In my classroom, we treat the rehearsal as a laboratory for life skills. When a child learns to use the CROW technique (Character, Relationship, Objective, Where), they aren't just preparing for a scene. They are learning to analyze situations, understand social cues, and solve problems on the spot. This is why we avoid rushing into a show. ### The Anatomy of Our Classes - **Building the Foundation:** Before any child steps on a stage, we focus on oral motor skills. We use tongue pops, vibration exercises, and breathing techniques. This helps with speech clarity and vocal projection, solving common issues like mumbling or speaking with a closed mouth. - **Critical Thinking:** We use creative exercises to teach kids how to analyze emotions and choices. For instance, when we design ads or create stories using preposition grids, children explore color theory, pricing, and narrative structure. This builds the logical foundation they need for school and beyond. - **Tailored Development:** Every child enters with different needs—some are shy, some are naturally extroverted, and some are hesitant. I don't use a 'one-size-fits-all' curriculum. We tailor our improvisational games and scene work to address the specific root cause of a child's hesitation, helping them build genuine confidence. ### A Note on Stage Fright Confidence is built slowly, not demanded. We never push a child to perform before they are ready. The final production, whether at a venue like Alliance Francaise or a smaller showcase, is simply a celebration of the journey they have navigated. We emphasize teamwork over individual stardom, ensuring every child feels like a valued part of the crew. ## About Theatre & U I'm Preeti.
