In my studio, we swap 'copying from a photo' for a process-driven approach—like experimenting with canvas weaving or monoprinting—that teaches you how to think, experiment, and ultimately find your own artistic voice. My approach to teaching art is built on the 'Thinking Curriculum.' This means whether you are a teen building a portfolio or an adult revisiting your creative side, we focus on the methodology first. We don't just teach you how to paint a tree; we teach you three different ways to approach the texture, the depth, and the form of it. In the studio, we work with a wide range of materials, moving beyond just paint on paper. You will find yourself carving lino blocks for printmaking, weaving canvas strips into paintings to add dimension, or using crayon resist techniques to create depth. It gets messy, it is often loud, and it is always focused. If you are joining us for our quarterly foundation courses or a short-term intensive at our Prabhadevi space, expect a serious but nurturing environment. We treat every project as a piece of problem-solving. By the time you finish a series of workshops, you are not just leaving with a completed piece of art—you are leaving with a new set of tools to visualize and execute your own ideas. ## About Purnima Sampat I'm Purnima.
