At my Prabhadevi studio, we strip away the fear of making mistakes to teach you how to see, think, and create with your own unique style. ## Photos and videos - [Video: I often hear that watercolor is the hardest medium. I show examples from master artists like John Singer Sargent to prove that this is absolutely not true. All you need is the passion to paint.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/f77c9ada-6f0e-4125-b82c-36e54b0753ea) ## About My Art Philosophy: It's Never Too Late to Create A mistake is not a failure, it is simply an idea that changed its mind. In my studio, we move away from the pressure of making things look perfect. We use techniques like blotting, scraping, and layering to embrace the messy, unpredictable nature of media like watercolor. You will learn how to stop being precious about your work and start trusting your own artistic instincts. Many beginners arrive at my studio believing that watercolor is the hardest medium because it feels unpredictable. The truth is that this unpredictability is where the magic lives. When you stop trying to force the paint to do exactly what you want, you allow the water to do half the work, resulting in fresh, vibrant paintings that look alive. Another myth I often address is the fear of mistakes. Students worry that because watercolor is translucent, one slip means the paper is ruined. That is not true. We teach muscle memory and practical fixes, such as blotting with a tissue, scraping with a blade, or layering to rework an area. You are never stuck with your first move. We also move beyond the idea that art is just for sketching or quick studies. With the right technique, you can create fully realized, professional paintings. Whether you are joining our Quarterly Medium Mastery course or a simple weekend workshop, the goal remains the same: move beyond copying photos and start making decisions as an artist. My studio in Prabhadevi is a space to experiment, fail, and eventually, find your own voice. ## About Purnima Sampat I started The Art Studio Mumbai because copying pictures felt boring and mechanical.
