By practicing with the same microphones and timing triggers they will face at school events or community showcases, our students stop focusing on the fear and start focusing on the music. ### Preparing for the Spotlight Whether it is a school annual day or an impromptu jam session, performing live requires a shift in mindset. We move beyond theory and technique to ensure you are ready to face an audience. ### Our Performance Training Pillars * **Technical Familiarity:** We replicate live conditions in our studio. You will learn mic technique, volume management, and how to work with backing tracks so that the equipment never feels intimidating on the big day. * **Stage Presence:** It is not just about what you play, but how you present it. We work on eye contact, crowd engagement, and how to handle small slip-ups without letting them derail your performance. * **Real-World Exposure:** Our students actively participate in our Togetherness Initiative and local community showcases. These are not staged, high-pressure environments, but real opportunities to share music with an audience, helping you build genuine confidence. ### Overcoming Stage Fright We have seen students who barely spoke a word become confident performers in just a few months. The secret is that we start small. We introduce group jamming to build synchronization skills, followed by small-group showcases, before moving to solo performance coaching. If you are prepping for Trinity College London performance exams or just want to enjoy playing on stage, we have the framework to get you there. ## About The Academy of Music We have been running The Academy of Music since 1990 with one goal: ensuring music brings as much joy to our students as it does to us. We prioritize getting our students out of the classroom and onto the stage, whether that is at a local community event or a school showcase. If you want to play with confidence, you are in the right place.
