## About Workshops & Speaking Engagements

I want people to see the potential inside discarded gadgets. "Arivininda kriyege", from awareness to action, is the message behind my upcycling workshops and sustainability talks.

### Sustainable apparel and student projects
At NIFT Kannur, I ran "Designing Sustainable Apparels from E-Waste" on 12 to 14 March 2025. Students worked on e-waste dresses for mannequins. At Pearl Academy, my 4-day "Eco-Chic" workshop explored wearable art and jewellery.

At UID, GD Goenka University, I led a four-day workshop around "LOOP.ed". Christ University's Liberal Arts students worked with me on the three-day LIBERATI mural representing the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

### Talks and mentoring
At Christ University's Media Meet on 7 Sept 2023, I gave "Sustainable Art Showcase & Guest Talk" on the 17 SDGs. I have also mentored students at Chanakya University. My teaching themes include contemporary eco-art, sustainability and design thinking.

I wrote "Upcycling for Sustainable Living: Complementing the Circular Economy" for the Springer Nature book "An Introduction to Circular Economy".

These are examples of past programmes, not a fixed duration or kit for every session.

## Meet your expert

[Vishwanath Mallabadi](https://mytribe.in/the-upcycle-store)

### My story

Namaste everyone. I studied applied arts and worked in graphic design and UI/UX, including at Wipro. I learned electronics through ham radio. My father, D.M. Shambhu, was a painter and sculptor. I grew up in "that creative mess." My e-waste art began as a hobby around 2004. "Kabadi bazaar is my playground." Music and poetry are part of my life too. "I don't Recycle, I Reimagine."

### My work

- **Art and learning**: I turn e-waste into public installations, sculptures, wall art and custom mementos. I also run workshops and talks.
- **Google Ananta**: I created a large wall installation and the skyline sculpture "Future Cities: Built from Yesterday's Technology" for Google's Bengaluru campus.
- **Sanketana**: I made the 25 ft long e-waste mural at Orion Mall, Brigade Gateway, with Brigade Group.
- **Eco-mementos**: I made e-waste pieces for the World Environment Day celebration at Kanteerava Stadium on 3 July 2024.
- **Wearable art**: I guide students in creating apparel and jewellery from e-waste, including workshops at UID, Pearl Academy and NIFT Kannur.
- **Disconnect to Reconnect**: I use art to ask people to rethink their gadgets and connect with nature.
