We often suggest live plants for balcony-facing spots that get gentle morning light, but for harsh, sun-drenched rooftops in Delhi, high-quality UV-resistant artificial mats or preserved moss offer the same visual impact without the constant risk of wilting or heavy water dependency. ### Beyond Just Plants: Designing Your Sanctuary A great terrace garden isn't just about placing pots in a row. It is about how the space functions as an extension of your home. Whether you are dealing with a compact apartment balcony or a sprawling rooftop, the key is balancing 'hardscape'—the foundations like pergolas, flooring, and seating—with 'softscape'—the greenery, texture, and living elements. ### The Anatomy of a Transformation - **Flooring Foundations:** Your choice of flooring defines the vibe. We often recommend WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) decking for a warm, barefoot-friendly feel, or stone paving for a more permanent, natural look. If you are on a budget, high-density artificial turf with strategic stone borders can instantly define a 'grass' area without needing a complex drainage overhaul. - **Structural Elements:** A pergola or gazebo is the most practical way to make an outdoor space usable throughout the year. It provides shade during the peak of Delhi summers and acts as a central anchor for hanging plants, string lights, or even a swing. - **The 'Zen' Factor:** You do not need a massive garden to create tranquility. A simple wall-mounted fountain or a small Buddha statue placed near a lush patch of foliage can change the entire auditory and visual mood of the space. We focus on integrating these focal points so they feel like they belong there, rather than being afterthoughts. ### Designing for Our Climate Living in a city like Delhi means managing both extreme heat and heavy monsoon dust. We design with this reality in mind. This means selecting hardy foliage, ensuring proper drainage layers under your deck tiles to prevent waterlogging, and using weather-resistant upholstery fabrics that can handle the elements. Our goal is to create a space that requires minimal fuss, allowing you to focus on the 'sukoon' rather than the maintenance. ## About Terrace Garden Makeovers We started this journey on our own rooftop, dreaming of greener city skylines over chai.
