## About Retreats & Second Homes

When we approach a second home, we look at the landscape before we draw a single line. For the Pavilion House in Nashik, we chose a low-lying form specifically to preserve the views for neighbors, ensuring the architecture feels like a natural extension of the site rather than an imposition. It is this sensitivity to your specific plot—whether it is a coastal property or a quiet hillside—that defines how we help you build your sanctuary.

Our approach to vacation retreats is grounded in the idea that a home should be a bridge between you and the outdoors. We avoid standard templates, preferring to design based on the unique story of the land and the history of the families who live there.

In Alibaug, the Grove House was designed as a catalyst for family reunions. We utilized deep porches and glass-heavy facades to channel the salty sea breeze and capture the light, creating a space where the rhythm of the day is dictated by the tropical garden rather than the city clock. Similarly, at Maison Rouge in the Konkan, we combined contemporary layouts with traditional vernacular massing, using local materials to anchor the house in the family’s ancestral roots.

### Designing for the Landscape
* **Site Sensitivity:** Every project begins with a study of the sun, the wind, and the existing vegetation. We want the building to sit quietly within its environment.
* **Material Palette:** We prioritize textures that age well. In our projects, you will find natural stone, reclaimed timber, and honest finishes that invite you to live slowly and touch the surfaces.
* **Indoor-Outdoor Flow:** The boundary between the interior and exterior should be porous. Whether through large sliding glass doors or covered transition spaces, we ensure you are never truly cut off from the garden or the view.

Building a retreat is a collaborative process. You bring the vision of how you want to live—whether that means grand gatherings or quiet, solitary mornings—and we translate that into a structure that feels both intentional and effortless.
