This layering process is slow and intentional, designed to build depth and capture the specific texture of fur or skin that makes your subject unique. The beauty of a pencil portrait lies in the patience required to create it. By working with specific artist-grade pencils, I can control the saturation and smoothness of every stroke. This is essential for rendering the reflection in a pair of eyes or the fine, soft wisps of fur on a pet's face. ### Process and Materials I work primarily on heavy, archival-grade paper. It is strong enough to handle the pressure of multiple layers of pigment without warping. This material choice is not just for the aesthetic; it ensures the artwork remains stable and vibrant over time. If you are looking for a memorial piece or a significant gift, this durability is a priority. ### What to Consider Because this style is labor-intensive, it requires a longer lead time than digital or acrylic options. I typically need 3-5 weeks to complete a portrait, depending on current commissions. Since these pieces are created with delicate materials, I ship them flat and unframed. This ensures the drawing reaches you in perfect condition, allowing you to select a frame that best matches your personal home decor. ## About Sushant Srane I am Sushant, a Mumbai-based artist.
