Music isn't just what happens on stage; it is the consistent 'ek koshish' to align oneself with the taal, whether I am by the ocean or preparing for a concert in the studio. It is about staying present and finding the rhythm in everything around us. My journey with the tabla is rooted in the Punjab Gharana, a style known for its power and grace. These photographs are not just memories; they are visual representations of the discipline I practice and teach. When you look at these images, you see the foundation of my work: the connection between the student, the Ustad, and the instrument. Whether I am at a high-profile venue like the NMACC in Mumbai or in a quiet, reflective space, the goal remains the same—to honor the tradition I inherited from my Guru, Ustad Joginder Singh Ji. For those interested in learning, this artistic journey informs my teaching method. I don't just teach the bols; I teach the 'why' behind the music. From the foundational hand placement (Nikass) to complex Pakhawaj Ang compositions, my classes in Mumbai and Delhi focus on building a deep, personal relationship with the tabla. If you are looking to understand the mathematics of Teentaal or simply want to find your own voice through daily practice, you will find a mentor who cares as much about your progress as your potential. Let us explore the world of classical rhythm together. ## About Surjeet Singh Main Surjeet Singh hoon. For me, tabla isn't just an instrument; it's a language I speak with my hands every single day. Whether I am performing on stage or sharing the nuances of the Punjab Gharana with a student, I stay rooted in the tradition I learned from my Ustadji.
