We sit with the audience, creating a conversational flow where we take requests and share the meaning behind every ghazal, making it feel less like a performance and more like a shared evening of poetry. When we bring our mehfil setup to your event, the goal is simple: to create a space where conversation and melody blur. Lead singer Alish Mohan guides the evening, blending Indian Idol-honed vocal precision with the raw, emotional storytelling of a traditional Sufi gathering. We keep the setup intentional and grounded. By choosing a seated arrangement, with harmonium, tabla, and dholak at the heart of the sound, we cut out the wall that often exists between performer and listener. This is not just about playing songs, it is about reading the mood of the room. If the moment calls for a deep ghazal or a classic Sufi qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, that is where we go. If the energy shifts, we weave in lighter folk or fusion tracks to keep the connection alive. Every performance begins with a sher that sets the theme for the night. This ritual anchors the music in meaning. Whether you are hosting a small private gathering in a Delhi lounge or a larger corporate evening, we adapt our 10 to 13-member ensemble to suit the acoustics and the vibe of your venue. Our sound engineer travels with us to ensure that the delicate notes of the flute or the subtle poetry in Alish's vocals are never lost in the background noise of an event. You get a performance that feels personal, deliberate, and deeply connected to the lyrics we share. ## About Sufi Folks I am Alish Mohan, and with my band Sufi Folks, I treat music as a roohani safar, a spiritual ride. We are not here to just play music, we are here to sit with you, share a few couplets, and get lost in the melody together. It is family, it is poetry, and it is always from the heart.
