This masterclass isn't about theory. It is about the hacks I use every day on client terraces. #### Precision Seed Sowing Many people waste seeds by planting them too deep. As a rule, tiny leafy green seeds should barely be covered by a fine layer of soil, while larger seeds like beans need an inch of depth. Getting this right is the difference between healthy germination and seeds that rot in the damp earth. #### Support Systems for Yield If your tomato or chilli plants are growing tall but not producing much fruit, they are likely wasting energy trying to stay upright. Providing support with bamboo stakes and tying stems with soft thread allows the plant to focus its energy on fruit production. It also improves air circulation, which naturally reduces fungal infections. #### The Fertilizer Schedule In pots, nutrients wash away quickly with daily watering. You cannot rely on a 'once in a while' feeding schedule. For terrace vegetable gardens, I follow a strict rotation of vermicompost and organic liquid boosters. If your brinjal or chilli leaves are turning yellow, they are likely starving for nitrogen. #### Attracting Pollinators If you want more fruit, you need more bees. I always suggest planting Italian basil in corners of your vegetable patch. The flowers are a magnet for pollinators, and they double as a fresh herb for your kitchen. #### Know Your Variety Before buying seeds, check the packet. Determinate tomato plants are bushy and perfect for small balcony pots. Indeterminate varieties are vines that need vertical space and support.
