## About Urban Residences: Homes with a Soul

We often get asked if sustainable design is restricted to large plots, but some of our most rewarding work happens on compact city sites. Take the 110 sq ft plot we worked on, where we used pivoted windows and vertical planning to bring in light and ventilation despite the surrounding density. When you are ready to chat, we can look at your specific plot dimensions to see how to carve out those light-filled, airy corners that make a house feel like a home.

Designing in an urban landscape like Bengaluru brings specific challenges, from noise and lack of privacy to limited natural light. Our approach is not about hiding these constraints but working with them. We prioritize 'breathable' architecture—using earth blocks, local stone, and exposed brick to create facades that do not just look good, but actually regulate temperature naturally.

### Our Approach to Urban Sites
We specialize in maximizing volume even on tight city plots. By using techniques like Rat-Trap Bond masonry and filler slab roofs, we reduce the amount of concrete needed, which lowers the building's thermal mass and energy footprint. Every window, jaali wall, and skylight is planned specifically to capture wind flow, ensuring you rarely need to rely on artificial cooling.

### A Collaborative Journey
Building with us is not a plug-and-play process. We involve you in every material choice and structural decision. Whether it is sourcing upcycled timber for doors or deciding on the layout of a courtyard to ensure the living room remains bright all day, we want you to understand how your house is being built. This is a journey of trust—between us, our artisans, and you as the homeowner. We are here to guide you through the complexities of sustainable construction, from climatic analysis to the final housewarming, ensuring the result is a home that holds your story, not just a structure that fills a plot.
