## About Deep Dive: Masterclasses & Guest Artists

These sessions are designed for those ready to move from making to mastering. We don't just focus on the wheel; we dive into the science of ceramics, including precise glaze formulations, clay body properties, and high-fire techniques like Japanese Raku, ensuring you understand the 'why' behind every step of the process.

When you attend a masterclass at our Byculla studio, you are stepping into a workspace built for serious study. We treat these workshops as an extension of the studio's daily practice, where the goal is to bridge the gap between amateur experimentation and professional-grade skill. 

### The Technical Depth
Our masterclasses, often led by Master Potter Sandeep Manchekar or guest artists like John Dix, cover the entire lifecycle of a piece. You will learn about:
*   **Clay Bodies & Chemistry:** Understanding mineral compositions, from terracotta to china clay, and how they react under high heat.
*   **Firing Techniques:** Hands-on experience with reduction firing, wood firing, and the dramatic, unpredictable nature of Raku firing.
*   **Advanced Forming:** Learning how to control asymmetry, master the rim, and throw challenging forms off the hump.

Learning is a constant loop. By bringing in international experts, we expose our community to different global traditions and methodologies. It is a chance to see how masters handle their tools, how they solve technical problems, and how they respect the unique limitations of the clay they are working with. 

Whether you are analyzing test tiles to perfect a crackled glaze or learning the nuances of 'mentori' (faceting) to add movement to your pots, these classes are intimate, intensive, and designed to challenge your existing rhythm. Come prepared to work hard, take notes, and get your hands into the chemistry of the kiln.
