When we design with earth materials like clay blocks and reclaimed wood, we’re not just building a structure; we’re figuring out how to let your walls age gracefully, breathe in the Bengaluru climate, and keep their character for decades. Architecture should not be a static shell. By choosing materials that have a history, like reclaimed timber or terracotta, we bring a dynamic quality to your home. ### Why We Stick to Earth Materials We lean into exposed clay hollow blocks and mud blocks because they are honest. They don't require layers of paint or plastic-based fillers to look good. Beyond aesthetics, these materials provide natural thermal insulation, which is essential for cooling homes in Bengaluru. Using break-joint patterns and filler slab roofing, we ensure structural integrity while letting the texture of the material take center stage. ### Turning Waste into Character Our 'upcycling' approach is simple: if it is on-site and solid, we find a way to use it. That gate made of salvaged logs? It was destined for a scrap pile before we redesigned it. By integrating these unique, non-standard materials into your compound walls and interiors, we create a home that feels curated rather than manufactured. ### The Engineering Behind the Texture Sustainability is not just about using bamboo; it is about precision. We plan your electrical conduits and plumbing carefully to fit into exposed masonry without compromising the visual flow. Whether it is sourcing natural stone for flooring or lime plaster for walls, every material choice is made to minimize your home's environmental footprint while maximizing its aesthetic warmth. We are happy to walk you through our material sourcing process for your next project. ## About Studio Bhoomi I'm Chaitra. My team and I at Studio Bhoomi spend more time at the local timber yard than in a boardroom. We treat your walls like living things, choosing clay and stone to keep them breathing, and we always save a little room for mischief in our designs.
