Our Restoration Clinic is designed for property owners who want to be deeply involved in the repair process but lack the technical roadmap to execute it correctly. We provide the diagnostic assessments and the ongoing mentorship you need to manage the work yourself, ensuring that original features like timber beams, stone masonry, and plasterwork are treated with the respect they deserve. Restoring heritage architecture is often intimidating. Many owners want to fix their spaces but fear damaging the historic fabric through incompatible materials or poor techniques. Through our Restoration Clinic, we bridge this gap. Our approach is anchored in capacity building. We treat every project as a mentorship opportunity, working alongside owners to teach them the fundamentals of historic building restoration. We started this initiative with the Verdun House in Mussoorie, where we demonstrated that owners can successfully rescue a dilapidated colonial bungalow when provided with clear, expert-led guidance. Our methodology focuses on the science of conservation. We begin with a thorough on-site diagnosis to identify structural distress, material pathology, and the true source of issues like rising damp or vegetative growth. We then help you create a strategic roadmap. This includes specifications for using traditional materials like lime mortar and sourcing authentic, reclaimed wood for joinery. We guide you through the 'how-to'—from testing traditional oil finishes on salvaged timber to monitoring the curing process of plasters. By empowering you with the right knowledge, we ensure the intervention is sustainable and the building remains relevant for future generations.
