In these sessions, we teach you how to set up quickly, pick your composition before the lighting shifts, and translate the scene onto your canvas without overthinking the process. Moving from the controlled environment of a studio to the outdoors is a significant step in an artist's growth. When we organize sessions at locations like the Craft Museum in Delhi, we aren't just looking for a pretty background. We are challenging you to observe depth, perspective, and color in real time. ### Why Plein Air Matters In the studio, you control the lighting. Outdoors, the sun moves, the wind blows, and crowds walk by. This forces you to make quick, decisive choices with your brushstrokes. It improves your observational skills faster than any classroom exercise. You learn to: * **Simplify Complex Scenes:** Identify the core shapes of a building or tree instantly. * **Handle Variable Light:** Capture shadows and highlights before they change. * **Build Confidence:** Sketching or painting in public spaces helps you get comfortable with people watching you work. ### What to Expect These events are structured but relaxed. We start with a brief demonstration on how to frame your view and mix colors for the specific time of day. Then, you have dedicated time to work on your own piece while our instructors circulate to offer feedback. We focus on 'plein air' techniques, meaning we want you to capture the essence of the moment rather than getting bogged down in microscopic detail. Whether you are a beginner looking to break out of your shell or an advanced student working on your portfolio, these trips offer a different kind of challenge. You get to test your skills in a live setting, which is vital for any serious artist. ## About Stroke Art Institute We started Stroke Art Institute to build a community, not just a classroom. Whether we are sketching in a park or painting at the Craft Museum, our goal is to help you feel confident enough to pick up a brush anywhere, not just in front of a mirror or a reference photo.
