When my students step onto the stage for Margam or Nrithya Sandhya, they aren't just dancing, they are applying years of discipline to express deep emotions. It is a transformation from a classroom student to a performer who understands the stage lights, the audience's gaze, and the rhythm of the live orchestra. Performing on stage is the true test of a dancer's journey. At Sreejaya's School of Classical Dance, we view events like Margam and Nrithya Sandhya not as simple recitals, but as essential milestones in a student's growth. ### The Margam Tradition A 'Margam' is the traditional order of a Bharatanatyam performance, a structured path that guides the dancer from simple movements to complex emotional storytelling. It typically flows from the invocation of Alarippu to the technical brilliance of Jatiswaram and the emotional depth of the Varnam. Preparing for this requires immense stamina and focus, often taking students years of rigorous training under our guidance. ### Behind the Performance When you see these photos, you are looking at more than just a dance performance. You are seeing the result of consistent practice in our HSR Layout, Harlur, Koramangala, and Whitefield studios. - **Technique:** We adhere to the Kalakshetra style, which emphasizes clean lines and geometric precision. - **Abhinaya:** As I always say, 'kannu aanallo ettavum important' (the eyes matter most). Our performances focus heavily on this art of expression, allowing students to convey stories from mythology with sincerity. - **Stage Presence:** We train our students to connect with the audience, ensuring that their performance is not just a display of steps, but a shared experience.
