We move beyond simple moves, focusing on the specific Shotokan forms and etiquette that prepare students for belt grading. You are not just dropping your child off for exercise, as they are learning the precision required to advance through their belt levels, one session at a time. Our karate program at the Shlok International School multipurpose hall is designed to be more than an after-school activity. It is a dedicated space for kids to learn Shotokan karate, a style renowned for its focus on powerful, linear techniques and deep stances. Whether your child is a complete beginner putting on a white belt for the first time or looking to refine their form for the next grading, our classes emphasize consistency and correct technique. ### The Dojo Environment We maintain a space where discipline meets encouragement. Sensei Roopesh leads these sessions, ensuring each child gets individual feedback on their kata and kumite (sparring). We do not just teach kids how to punch. We teach them the etiquette of the dojo, the importance of respect, and the self-confidence that comes from knowing how to defend themselves. ### Belt Progression Growth here is tangible. We follow a clear, traditional path for belt advancement. Students regularly prepare for quarterly or half-yearly grading exams, which gives them clear goals to work towards. This structure helps children understand that progress comes from 'Mehnat kar pasina baha' (hard work and sweat), a philosophy we instill in every class.
