We always install a waterproof geo-fabric or heavy-duty tarpaulin backing before attaching our custom steel framework. This step is non-negotiable for us because it creates a protective barrier that prevents moisture from seeping into your building walls, which is the most common long-term issue people worry about. ### How We Build Your Green Wall We approach vertical gardening as both an art and an engineering project. The process begins with assessing your wall's exposure to light and its structural capacity. We don't just hang pots; we build a complete system. * **Framework & Protection:** We install a mild steel grid, anchored securely to your wall. Behind this, we lay our waterproof backing to ensure your building remains safe and dry. * **Irrigation:** For large installations, we integrate a discreet, gravity-fed or pump-assisted drip irrigation line. This ensures that every plant gets exactly the water it needs without you having to water it by hand every day. * **Plant Selection:** We choose foliage based on the specific light conditions of your space. We love mixing textures—using trailing Pothos, hardy Ferns, colorful Philodendrons, and Dracaenas to create a dense, multi-layered look that feels natural, not manufactured. ### Why Go Vertical? Vertical gardens are perfect for when you want a lush garden but have limited floor space. They are also incredibly functional for concealing ugly surfaces like exposed transformer areas, compost units, or plain brick partitions in commercial IT parks or residential balconies. ### Maintenance While our setups are designed to be low-maintenance, they are living things. We use an ultra-lightweight, soil-less mix of coco-peat and organic manure. This keeps the wall light and prevents structural strain while providing the nutrients your plants need to thrive. If you ever feel like your wall needs a refresh, or if you aren't sure which plants will survive on your specific wall, just reach out. We are always happy to advise on keeping your green wall healthy and vibrant year-round. ## About Sqft Farm We started sqft.farm with muddy hands and the simple belief that anyone, anywhere, should be able to have a garden.
