Our outdoor programs take children into nature—from visiting local farms to gentle animal encounters—helping them build confidence and curiosity through direct, hands-on discovery. ## Photos and videos - [Video: Our summer camp kicked off with a farm-tastic day. Whether we are heading to a farm or setting up a nature walk, our primary focus is safety and gentle exposure. We keep group sizes intentionally small so that every child has the space to interact with animals, ask questions, and build the confidence to explore environments that feel big and new. ### Why Nature Play Matters We see a massive shift in children when they step outside the familiar play centre. Nature provides a sensory-rich environment that an indoor classroom simply cannot replicate. The texture of grass, the sound of farm animals, and the open space to run help develop gross motor skills and proprioception in a way that feels like pure play, not a lesson. ### Our Approach to Field Trips When we plan an outdoor trip, we focus on 'active observation.' We don't just point at a cow or a rabbit; we encourage children to feed them, touch the textures, and ask questions about how they live. For our younger toddlers, this is often their first experience with animals, so we ensure the petting zoo or farm environments are controlled, calm, and supervised by our staff and the child's guardian. ### Safety First We know that taking little ones out can be a source of anxiety for parents. That is why our field trips are: * **Supervised:** Our educator-to-child ratio is kept low for all off-site visits. * **Age-Appropriate:** We don't force 'big kid' activities on toddlers. We prioritize gentle, observational play. * **Localized:** We choose spots within and around Banashankari to minimize travel time, keeping the excitement high and fatigue low. ### Learning Outcomes Beyond the fun, these trips teach kindness, respect for living creatures, and independence. When a child learns to navigate a hay-filled path or calmly approach a pony for a cart ride, they are building resilience and social awareness. It is messy, it is loud, and it is exactly how kids learn best. ## About Speel We’re a team that believes the best classrooms don't have walls.
