By carefully choreographing how sun enters a space and how water reflects the sky, we create homes that feel inherently calm. ## Photos and videos - [Video: The play of light and shadow on our Kasaya project. We use them to ground a building. A dark reflective pool is an anchor that pulls the sky down into your living room, creating a cooling microclimate that often makes air conditioning redundant. When we talk about stillness, we mean the tangible change in temperature and mood you feel the moment you step near water. Our approach to architecture begins with the site, not with a pre-determined style. When we introduce water and light into a design, we are calculating the emotional impact of the space. ### Designing with Light Light is a material as physical as stone or timber. In our projects, we do not simply illuminate rooms. We sculpt light. We create openings that allow the sun to track across a wall, marking the passage of time throughout the day. By using double-height volumes and deep overhangs, we keep the harsh glare out while ensuring the space remains filled with a soft, diffused glow. ### The Role of Water Water brings a rhythmic, living element to a structure. A courtyard pool or a reflective basin does more than look beautiful. It acts as a thermal regulator, cooling the incoming breeze before it enters the home. In our projects, these water bodies serve as the heart of the house, creating a visual and auditory barrier against the city noise outside. ### Why Atmosphere Matters People often ask us for a 'look' or a 'style.' We offer atmosphere instead. A space that is filled with the right quality of light, with the sound of water, and with honest, natural materials, requires no extra decoration. It is complete. We build for the Indian climate, focusing on cross-ventilation and passive cooling, ensuring your home is a sanctuary that remains comfortable without the need for constant mechanical intervention. ## About Spasm Design We are a band of architects who listen more than we sketch. We believe architecture should be quiet, honest, and deeply connected to its surroundings. If you are looking for a space that breathes and feels like home, we are here to build it with you.
