I focus on transforming small, challenging footprints into open, airy homes that feel twice their actual size. ## Photos and videos - ![This 20x30 plot residence uses a corten steel facade and a stacked, zig-zag layout. I use techniques like zig-zag planning and open-well atriums to pull natural light deep into the center of the building, ensuring the interior doesn't feel like a box. When we look at your site, my focus is purely on creating that sense of spaciousness so you never feel claustrophobic, even when your neighbors are only a few feet away. ### Architecture for Compact Footprints Most people see a 20x30 plot as a limitation, but I see it as a puzzle that needs a precise structural solution. My approach to small plot architecture involves maximizing every inch through verticality and clever geometry. #### My Approach to Volume * **Zig-Zag Plans:** By staggering the placement of structural cubes, I break the monotony of a narrow facade and allow for unique, functional pockets of space inside. * **Double-Height Atriums:** Bringing the sky inside is essential for small homes. An open-well design acts as a lung for the house, creating a connection between levels and flooding the interiors with daylight. * **Cantilevered Structures:** As seen in the Arun residence project, a six-meter cantilever can create a striking exterior while freeing up the ground level for parking or an open landscape. #### Design Elements That Matter I believe in using materials that age gracefully and add texture. I frequently use Jalli screens and corten steel facades. These aren't just aesthetic choices; they provide necessary privacy and heat mitigation, which is vital when buildings are tightly packed in urban Bengaluru. #### Vastu Integration Many clients worry that modern, experimental architecture conflicts with Vastu Shastra. I work to blend these principles into the initial conceptual layout. We align room orientations and entrance placement strictly to traditional rules, while maintaining the clean, minimalist lines of contemporary architecture. Whether you are looking for a complete turnkey construction or just the blueprint for a challenging site, I work with you from the first sketch to the handover. Let's build a space that is truly yours. ## About Slate Studio I'm Ashok, and I believe you don't need a massive plot to build something meaningful.
