This is my story of finding art in a small village and keeping that passion alive through years of practice in the city. ## Photos and videos - [Video: For anyone interested in knowing the person behind the art, this is my story. I talk honestly about my beginnings, my struggles to become an artist, and how I found my way in the world of art and design.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/8d7a1a3b-d0c4-4ffa-b82d-0cad45060d1b) ## About My Art Story When I was in school, I did not have access to new books, so I learned to repair torn ones by copying the illustrations exactly. That habit stuck with me. Today, whether I am sketching a caricature or painting a portrait, I look for that same spark—the connection between the subject and the page. It is not just about technique; it is about bringing a story to life. ### How My Journey Began I grew up in a small village in the Samastipur district. My first lessons in art came from necessity. When my schoolbooks were torn, I would redraw the missing pages and paste them in. That is where the 'art ka keeda' (passion for art) truly started. It was never about being a professional; it was about the joy of creating something where there was nothing before. ### The Path to Delhi I moved to Delhi with a dream of working as a professional cartoonist. The competition was tough, and for a long time, I balanced a career in graphic design with my personal projects. I even had my work selected for a national-level exhibition by Hindustan Times, which gave me the confidence to keep going. Those early years taught me discipline and the value of a high-quality, hand-drawn sketch. ### My Approach to Your Art Today, I divide my time between: * **Hand-Drawn Caricatures:** Perfect for farewells, birthdays, or just a funny gift for a colleague. I use markers and pens to capture the personality, not just the face. * **Realistic Portraits:** Using professional color pencils and markers on acid-free paper, I focus on capturing the emotion in the eyes. * **Acrylic Paintings:** This is where I slow down. Whether it is a landscape, a pet portrait, or a still life, I layer the paint to create texture and depth that print cannot replicate. Everything I make is 100% hand-drawn or hand-painted. If you have an idea, let's talk about how we can turn it into a piece you can hold on to for years. ## About SKD I am SKD. I moved to Delhi years ago with a dream of being an artist, and while life led me into professional design, my sketchbook never stayed empty. I create art for the joy of it—whether it is a funny caricature for a friend or a quiet landscape on canvas.
