Instead of relying only on measurements, I prefer to pin the drape directly on you during our first trial. This ensures the pleats sit perfectly and the flair moves just right, whether we are transforming your old lehenga into a new gown or stitching a fresh design from scratch. Designing a garment is not just about the final sketch. It is the hours spent cutting tulle, setting ruffles, and hand-placing beads that make a piece truly yours. At my Kharghar studio, I focus on the sustainable side of your wardrobe. Why buy something for a single wear when we can redesign your outdated outfit into a chic, modern piece? My process is straightforward. We start with a chat about your vision—bring your Pinterest board, a magazine clipping, or just a pile of fabric scraps. I handle the drafting, padding, and structural work, including using can-can or horsehair braid for that perfect, voluminous hemline. If you have a specific style in mind, like a convertible gown with detachable sleeves, I can build that structural flexibility right into the stitching. Here is how I typically approach your requirements: * **Fabric Manipulation:** I use specific techniques, like manual pleating or burning net edges for floral appliques, to add texture without relying on heavy readymade accessories. * **Upcycling:** If you bring an old saree or lehenga, I focus on deconstruction first. I carefully rip seams and iron out creases to maximize the fabric, giving your old favorites a fresh lease of life. * **Structure & Comfort:** For kids' outfits or maternity gowns, I always prioritize skin-friendly cotton lining and margins that allow for growth or size changes. Since I run the show, I am always available for on-the-spot adjustments. If a fitting feels slightly off, we fix it there and then.
