## About The Blooming Garden: A Heritage Restoration

Restoration is often about the restraint of doing less rather than more. When we approached Lal Kothi, our biggest decision wasn't what to add, but what to leave untouched to honor its pre-independence roots. We worked within the original footprint, upgrading infrastructure and interiors only where it deepened the relationship between the garden and the living spaces. If you are considering a restoration for your own property, start by identifying the house's inherent strengths—we believe in amplifying those qualities first, rather than wiping the slate clean.

### Architecture as a Layered Memory

At SIAN Architects, we see heritage restoration not as a project of renovation, but as an act of stewardship. Lal Kothi, located in the Meerut Cantonment, was a study in patience. It required us to peel back layers of time without erasing them. Our goal was to keep the colonial architecture intact while adapting the interior flow to suit a contemporary family’s daily life.

### The Garden as a Room

We often find that clients treat the garden as an outdoor space separated from the home. At The Blooming Garden, we inverted this. The garden is a visual and sensory extension of every room. By studying the site's sun path and existing flora, we ensured that the interior color palettes and material choices—think soft floral prints and natural textures—echoed what was happening just outside the window. This creates a home that breathes in sync with the seasons.

### Our Approach to Your Project

When we work on heritage or historic homes, our process is specific:

* **Contextual Study:** We map the site’s history, checking for structural integrity and original materials before we touch a single wall.
* **Material Honesty:** We prioritize reviving existing elements, from brickwork to woodwork, and integrate new additions that respect the original aesthetic rather than mimicking it.
* **Climate-Responsive Design:** We analyze how your home holds heat, light, and wind, using time-tested methods to make old structures comfortable for modern living.

Whether you are looking to restore a legacy home or design a new space that feels rooted in its land, we are here to help you tell your story through architecture.

## About SIAN Architects

We are Surbhi and Deepanshu. At SIAN Architects, we don't just design buildings; we listen to the stories that land and history have already written. For us, a project like Lal Kothi isn't about our ego, but about helping a home breathe again.
