Whether it is an intimate house concert or a formal stage recital, I focus on the meditative aspects of the Rampur Senia Gharana, particularly the Alaap and Jhaala, to ensure the sound resonates with the audience. The experience of live performance is unique because of the silent conversation between the artist and the audience. In my concerts, I follow the traditional Dhrupad baaj, which emphasizes sustained notes and intricate improvisations. This is music for contemplation, where the aim is to explore the raga's depth through Kharaj and Jor rather than just playing fast compositions. If you are planning an event, baithak, or a spiritual gathering, I prefer to understand the nature of the audience before I choose my repertoire. For a smaller, close-knit gathering in places like Gurgaon or Delhi NCR, I can play in the traditional baithak style, which allows for a more personal interaction. For larger stages, I structure the performance to build gradually, taking the listeners through the layers of the raga. I am comfortable performing solo or with tabla accompaniment, depending on what the event requires. I have previously played at venues like the India International Centre in New Delhi and various music circles in Jamshedpur and Pune.
