Whether it is the Jaltarang or the Tabla, we focus on the joy of making sound, not getting the notes perfect. Most parents tell me that the best part is not the skill their child learns, but the hour they get to spend completely absorbed in a shared, screen-free activity with their little one. At ShrotaHouse, our sessions are designed to break the wall between the teacher and the learner, and the child and the parent. When we host a Jaltarang workshop or a Tabla demo, we see parents who have never touched an instrument find their own rhythm alongside their kids. We move away from the traditional, rigid structure of music education. Instead, we introduce instruments through storytelling and tactile play. Your child learns the concept of Sur and Taal, but they do it by feeling the vibration of a string or the splash of water in a bowl. It is messy, it is loud, and that is exactly how it should be. We rotate through venues across Bangalore, from art studios in JP Nagar to community spaces in Whitefield. These are not drop-off classes. We invite you to sit on the floor, participate in the activities, and perhaps even learn a thing or two yourself. We keep our groups intimate to ensure every child gets the chance to touch the instruments and every parent feels comfortable asking questions.
