It is about simplifying complex narratives and mudras so they communicate directly to an international audience, turning every performance into a conversation that transcends language. When I step onto a stage in a foreign country, my goal is to strip away the barriers. Often, people assume classical dance is too complex or rigid to enjoy without a deep background, but I have found that a well-composed piece of Abhinaya can be understood by anyone. Whether I am teaching students at a university in Reunion Island or setting up a shoot at a landmark, the process is the same. I look for the connection between the space and the movement. For example, the scale of the Louvre required a certain expansive, grounded energy, while the natural, raw environment of a beach demanded a more fluid, organic expression. These projects are not just about showing off skills. They are about cultural diplomacy, where I use the language of Bharatanatyam to talk about Indian heritage, poetry, and storytelling.
