We dive deep into *Abhinaya* (facial expression) and *Talam* (rhythm), helping students understand not just how to move, but how to tell a story through movement. Whether we are in a school hall or a university auditorium, I focus on making the technical aspects of classical dance relatable to a modern audience. ### Our Approach to Classical Dance Education Learning is a two-way street. When we conduct workshops—whether for Spicmacay in Kota or a cultural lecture-demonstration at the University of La Reunion—the goal is to bridge the gap between ancient tradition and the contemporary student. ### What We Cover * **The Language of Mudras:** We break down the *Hastakas* (hand gestures) that form the alphabet of Bharatanatyam, showing students how to communicate without speaking. * **Understanding Rhythm:** We explain the mathematics behind *Talam* and how *Jathis* (rhythmic sequences) create the structure of a dance piece. * **Abhinaya and Emotion:** This is often the most engaging part for students. We teach how to project subtle emotions—devotion, joy, or sorrow—which is a skill that translates well beyond the dance floor. ### Tailored for Every Audience We understand that one size does not fit all.
