When I teach, my goal is to break down these complex Jaipur Gharana movements into digestible steps so you can build your own foundation, whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your practice in Bengaluru. Kathak is often misunderstood as merely a series of spins and speed, but it is fundamentally a language. In my classes, we move beyond just counting steps. I focus on the 'Shastra'—the ancient texts—that inform our movements, ensuring that every 'Chakkar' and 'Tatkar' is grounded in purpose and awareness. ### My Approach to Learning I offer training in the Jaipur Gharana style, passed down to me by my Guru, Pt. Rajendra Gangani. This lineage is the backbone of my instruction. We work on: * **Nritta (Pure Dance):** Developing the technical precision of rhythm, Taal, and footwork. * **Abhinaya (Expression):** Learning to tell stories through subtle muscle movements and facial expressions, a core element of my Harikatha performances. * **Physical Conditioning:** Using yoga-based warm-ups to build the core strength and flexibility required for sustained practice. ### Where We Learn I conduct in-person sessions across Bengaluru at locations like Yuva Patha in Jayanagar, Yours Truly Theatre in Indiranagar, and Suchitra Cinema in Banashankari. For those who cannot make it to a studio, I also run interactive virtual batches where we adapt traditional techniques to the home environment, ensuring you still receive real-time feedback on your posture and rhythm.
