I use my characters to spark real conversations about important social issues, making serious topics approachable for diverse audiences. ## Photos and videos - ![Spreading awareness on World No Tobacco Day at the Ghatkopar Police Station. By removing the ego from the speaker and channeling the message through a character, I can engage audiences on difficult topics like public health and social violence without the usual resistance. It turns a lecture into a story, allowing the message to land softly and stay with people long after the performance ends. For years, I have collaborated with police departments and foundations to use ventriloquism and puppetry as a medium for social change. Traditional awareness drives often struggle to capture attention because they feel repetitive or heavy. My approach is different: I create characters that people connect with, allowing me to present complex issues in a relatable, local language whether in Marathi, Hindi, or English. ### Why Puppetry Works for Campaigns * **Engagement:** Characters act as an icebreaker, making audiences receptive to information they might otherwise tune out. * **Recall:** A performance is more memorable than a standard presentation, increasing the likelihood that the social message sticks. * **Versatility:** From anti-tobacco messaging at local police stations to broader calls for peace and unity, the format is adaptable to the cause. I have seen firsthand how a well-crafted puppet can bridge gaps in understanding. Whether you are an NGO, a government body, or a community organization looking to launch an awareness campaign, we can create a performance that aligns with your specific goals. It is about using this three-generation legacy of art to solve modern, real-world problems. ## About Satyajit Padhye I’m Satyajit.
