My workshops focus on the 'gati'—that graceful, stylized walk that forms the backbone of Kathak—alongside movement therapy to help you listen to your body. It is about understanding the connection between your breath and the rhythm, whether you are a complete beginner or a dancer looking to refine your technique. Kathak is a lifetime commitment for me, and these workshops are designed to pass on the technical rigor and emotional depth I learned from my gurus. Whether you are attending a session in person at our Jayanagar or Banashankari studios, or joining our global virtual batches, the curriculum remains consistent: we prioritize the 'guru-shishya parampara'—a bond built on mutual respect and dedication. In our workshops, we break down complex concepts like 'Laya' (rhythm math) and 'bol' recitation into understandable modules. For those interested in the deeper narrative aspects, we cover 'Abhinaya' (expressions) and storytelling, drawing from classical compositions like 'Shiv Dhrupad'. My classes also incorporate professional wooden flooring and mirrors to ensure you have the right space to correct your posture and footwork. Performance is a vital part of growth. Many of my students start in these workshops and eventually take the stage at festivals like those hosted by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. I also conduct specialized sessions like Dance and Movement Therapy for those who want to explore the mind-body connection in a new way. We keep our batches small to ensure every student gets individual feedback, which is particularly helpful for our online learners who need precise verbal cues for their home practice.
