When I perform, I use traditional Urdu shayari to set the mood for each track, whether I am singing a classic ghazal or a popular Sufi number. This approach creates an intimate connection with the audience, making the performance feel like a personal conversation rather than a standard stage show. My training in the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana teaches me that music is a form of prayer. In this Mehfil-e-Shayari format, I focus on the 'Sham-e-Rouhani' (spiritual evening) vibe. My band, Murshid, and I do not rely on canned tracks. We use live instruments like the tabla, dholak, and harmonium to ground the performance in tradition. I believe that a song like 'Aafreen Aafreen' or 'Halka Halka Suroor' hits differently when it is introduced with a heartfelt couplet that speaks to the occasion. ### Why choose a Shayari-based performance? * **Personalization:** Every couplet is chosen to reflect the mood of the event, be it a wedding sangeet, a cocktail night, or an intimate dinner. * **Audience Engagement:** I actively interact with the guests. If the crowd wants something light-hearted about 'sharab' or something deeply romantic, I can shift the tone of the poetry on the fly. * **Atmosphere:** We create a Baithak-style seating or a refined stage setup that encourages listening, making it ideal for guests who appreciate depth and poetry alongside live music. Whether you are looking for a gentle ghazal night or a Sufi fusion set that still keeps the poetry at the center, we tailor the flow to ensure your guests are engaged from the first sher to the final note. We bring our full 14-member ensemble or a stripped-down acoustic set, depending on the scale and requirements of your venue. ## About Sameer Khan Niazi I come from the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana, and for me, music is a prayer. With my band Murshid, I do not just hit the stage to sing; I aim to create a 'Sham-e-Rouhani' where every shayari and every note connects directly to your heart.
