The truth is, there is no fixed salary day, no paid sick leave, and you are entirely your own boss, which means you are also your own HR, marketing team, and choreographer. When you step into this space, you are not just learning to dance; you are learning to manage a business where your body is your resume. I talk about these realities because I want you to enter this field with your eyes wide open, not just hoping for the best. This industry gets real very soon, and if you are not prepared, you will burn out before you hit your stride. Many newcomers start because they love the vibe, but sustaining a career requires more than just energy. It requires strategy. ### Beyond the Dance Floor Being a professional instructor involves hours of invisible work. For every one hour of class, you are spending time on playlist curation, memorizing choreography, and managing class anxiety. You have to learn the art of cueing—communicating effectively without using words while you are mid-squat. ### Why You Need a Mentor I see many people get discouraged because they think they can just wing it. You cannot. To build a sustainable career, you need to understand: * **The Business Basics:** How to pitch your classes to local studios, corporate events, and gyms in Bengaluru and beyond. * **Professional Boundaries:** How to stay approachable for your clients while keeping your personal life private. * **Continuous Learning:** The ZIN™ community is vast, but you have to be coachable to gain from it. That means attending workshops, updating your Rhythms like Afrobeat or Street Heat, and realizing that your routine is just a starting point. ### The Bottom Line If you are looking for an easy nine-to-five, this is not it. But if you want a career where you define your hours, build a network of friends from all walks of life, and actually make an impact, then let us get to work. Do not just show up to dance; show up to lead. ## About Sahana Jagannatha I’m Sahana, and I’ve spent the last 12 years turning my passion into a full-time career.
