For courtyard gardens, our primary focus is drainage and light optimization, ensuring that a lush green feature does not become a high-maintenance burden. We select climate-resilient species that thrive with minimal water, keeping your sanctuary looking intentional rather than wild. When we approach a Zen or courtyard project, we move beyond simple aesthetics. Our philosophy, rooted in the Sanskrit concept of 'pure' living, dictates that these spaces must serve a functional purpose for your mental well-being. ### The Zen Approach In our Zen-inspired projects, we balance hardscape and softscape to create stillness. We often employ raked white sand or river stones to symbolize flowing water, punctuated by sculptural elements. This minimalist approach requires precise execution, especially with lighting. We use 3W spike lights to highlight specific plant forms, creating depth and shadows that change throughout the day. ### Courtyard Mechanics An internal courtyard is a significant architectural intervention. If you are planning a space within your home, waterproofing is our first priority. Whether it is a small light well for a powder room or a central atrium, we integrate sub-surface drainage systems to prevent dampness. For flooring, we often recommend Gwalior Mint or Kota stone for their natural, earthy texture, paired with weather-resistant species like Snake Plants or Areca Palms. ### Our Civil Integration If your vision involves more than just planting, we handle the heavy hardscaping as well. From constructing custom stone benches to installing Koi ponds with integrated filtration units, we manage the civil engineering. We ensure every feature, whether a bubbling fountain or a privacy louvre, is installed to withstand the specific climatic conditions of your location. We build to last, using materials that age gracefully rather than wearing out. ## About Saatvick We are Saatvick, a design firm obsessed with creating spaces that breathe.
