I design these spaces to focus on a pared-down, neutral palette, using honest, tactile textures and thoughtful lighting to evoke a sense of deep, lasting calm. ## Photos and videos - ![In this powder room, a palette of soft greens and browns creates a calming effect. Rather than standard glossy surfaces, I often prefer the tactile depth of lime plaster, raw stone, or hand-hammered metals to shift the atmosphere from clinical to restorative, ensuring the space feels as grounded and personal as the rest of your home. ### Designing Your Personal Sanctuary When we approach a bathroom renovation in a busy urban setting like Delhi or Gurugram, the goal is always to carve out a moment of stillness. A space for a morning ritual or an evening wind-down should feel like a relief, not a continuation of the day's noise. ### The Power of Materiality We move away from mass-produced, uniform aesthetics. Instead, we look for materials that age and breathe. Natural stone, such as Kota or Sadarhalli, provides a grounded base, while lime plaster or micro-concrete offers a soft, monolithic texture that catches light beautifully. In our powder room designs, we enjoy being more experimental—incorporating floral wallpapers, antique brass accents, or custom vanities to create a space that feels like a jewel box. ### Lighting as a Design Material Light is never an afterthought. We treat it as a primary design element, layering ambient lighting with focused, anti-glare task lights. Whether it is a backlit circular mirror that casts a soft, halo-like glow or a pendant light that warms a corner, the way light interacts with your chosen materials changes the mood of the room entirely. ### Frequently Asked Questions **How do you handle small, windowless bathrooms?** We use lighter, reflective textures and clever lighting layouts to push the boundaries of the room, making it feel expansive rather than enclosed. **Do you incorporate bespoke furniture in baths?** Yes. We often design floating vanities in natural wood or stone, tailored exactly to your storage needs and the architectural rhythm of the room. **Can you integrate heritage elements into a modern bath?** Absolutely. We love blending the old with the new—perhaps an antique brass faucet paired with clean, minimalist stone tiling to create a 'modern heritage' vibe that feels both grounded and fresh. ## About Saka Studio I founded Saka Studio to chase the idea that architecture can be poetry, not just walls and roofs.
