Every poem I pen, whether for a stranger at Cubbon Park or a commissioned piece, is fed by the books I read. When you see me with a copy of Gitanjali or 12 Rules for Life, you are seeing the fuel for my next set of verses. I do not write to be perfect. I write because I have to. My debut book, HER, came from this exact space of letting things spill out. It is a collection of my rawest thoughts, born from the same bookstores and quiet nooks you see here. When people ask me what my process is, they expect to hear about rigid schedules or quiet studies. The truth is much messier. I write in bookstores, on my bed, and sometimes in the middle of a park. My reading life is equally chaotic. One day it is the spiritual intensity of Aghora, the next it is Tagore’s verses that cleanse the soul. I treat books as companions that challenge me to break my own rules.
