By placing the main staircase here and connecting it directly to semi-open courtyards, we ensure that students and faculty engage with natural light and ventilation throughout the academic day, which is critical for a campus environment. ### Campus Design Philosophy Our approach to institutional architecture goes beyond building classrooms. We focus on master planning that dictates student traffic flow, ensuring that large volumes of movement are managed efficiently without feeling congested. For this project, we integrated vertical louvers and deep-set windows to mitigate heat gain while maintaining a rhythmic exterior pattern, a technique we often use in our Bengaluru projects to balance aesthetics with thermal comfort. ### Functional Academic Spaces - **Collaborative Core:** The central atrium serves as the heart of the building. We designed this to host informal gatherings, ensuring it functions as a learning space in itself, not just a corridor. - **Safety and Regulations:** Every institutional layout we design adheres strictly to National Building Code (NBC) norms. This includes specific corridor widths, staircase riser heights, and strategically placed fire exits, ensuring the building is safe and compliant for large groups. - **Acoustics and Ventilation:** In larger multi-purpose halls and auditoriums, we plan for architectural acoustics from the initial sketch phase. This ensures that sound quality is prioritized alongside the visual design. - **Green Integration:** The inclusion of courtyards and water features serves a dual purpose. They act as natural ventilation ducts for the interior and provide quiet zones for students, breaking the monotony of academic blocks. Our institutional design services are priced between ₹25 and ₹45 per sq. ft., covering the full spectrum from initial site feasibility and master planning to detailed working drawings for civil and MEP work. ## About Redwall Design Studio We are Kiran and Sudeep from Redwall Design Studio.
