When I teach my students, I pass down the same anatomical precision and discipline that my own Gurus instilled in me—a focus on academic realism that requires deep patience and steady, repetitive practice. The images in this cluster are more than just memories; they represent a lineage of artistic knowledge. The Guru-Shishya tradition in Indian art is about direct transmission of craft, and I strive to maintain this standard in every class I conduct. Whether I am teaching perspective, anatomy, or medium mastery, I rely on the pedagogical methods handed down by my father and my Guruvarya, Padma Shri Vasudevji Kamath. Academic realism, which forms the core of my teaching, is not something one learns from online tutorials alone. It requires an environment where a teacher can correct your brush stroke or your shading technique in real-time. My students in Nashik work in a disciplined, quiet setting where the focus remains entirely on the canvas. This is why I prefer in-person sessions—it allows me to provide the specific, critical feedback that helps a student transition from copying references to truly understanding light, form, and composition. If you are looking to take your work to a professional level or prepare for art competitions, my approach involves a rigorous evaluation of your existing portfolio. We identify the gaps in your technical knowledge and address them systematically. This is the same rigorous path my mentors guided me through, and it is the only way to achieve lasting results in fine art. ## About Rajesh Sawant I am a painter based in Nashik, and I believe art is a tradition passed from heart to heart. My work is a tribute to my father and my Gurus, whose wisdom I strive to share with every student who walks into my studio.
