## About Quick Tips: Event Etiquette & Making Connections

Most people stress about what to say when they arrive, but the real hack is simply showing up 15 minutes early. It is not about being eager. It is about giving yourself time to read the room, find the water station, and say a quick hi to the host before the chaos starts. When you are not rushing, your energy is automatically more open, making you approachable from the second the event kicks off.

### Ditch the Phone
There is a reason you decided to leave your house and join a gathering in real life. Putting your phone away is the single biggest signal you can send that you are present. Even if you feel awkward, avoid the urge to scroll. If you get stuck, a simple question like "What brought you here?" or "How did you discover this event?" is a great opener.

### Talk to the Host
The host is the bridge between you and everyone else in the room. They have designed the flow of the evening, and they usually know exactly who you should meet. Introduce yourself, let them know how you found the event, and be open. They will happily make warm introductions for you, which saves you from the pressure of cold-approaching strangers.

### Manage Your Energy
Protect your vibe. If you find yourself stuck in a conversation that has turned into a gripe session about dating apps or how bad the world is, it is okay to step away. Politely excuse yourself for a water break or a walk around the room. You are there to enjoy yourself, not to absorb someone else's negativity.

### Privacy and Logistics
If you are attending a singles event and feel shy about photos, speak to the organizer beforehand. Most hosts are happy to accommodate you or help you find a spot in group shots that keeps your privacy intact. Also, always handle your commitment fees or bills upfront. It keeps the energy light and prevents awkward financial conversations at the end of a good night.
