Seeing the space and letting your cat sniff around helps them realize they're safe, not trapped. It changes the whole vibe of drop-off day, trust me. Finding the right place for your cat isn't just about looking at photos, it's about checking the vibe. When you visit, look for cleanliness, safe escape routes, and how the resident cats are acting. If the place feels like a cage, keep looking! A good boarding home should be a cat-proofed space where your baby can roam, climb, and sunbathe on a netted catio. ### My Top Tips for New Cat Parents: * **Medical Records are Non-Negotiable:** Any serious boarder will ask for proof of vaccinations and de-worming. I personally don't take any guests without this because infections spread fast in a multi-cat household. Don't be offended if they ask for these; be glad they care! * **Transitions Matter:** If you can, bring a little bit of your cat's familiar litter or a blanket that smells like home. It helps them settle in so much faster. * **Updates are Key:** You have every right to ask for daily photos and videos. If the sitter is too busy to send a quick update, that's a red flag. I love sharing how my guests are eating and playing because it helps you relax too. ### Staying Safe During Festivals Festivals like Holi can be super stressful for our furries. Please, please keep them indoors and away from colors. Even the so-called 'herbal' ones are toxic if they lick them while grooming. Create a safe, quiet room for them and keep them away from the chaos outside. If you see any changes in their behavior or breathing, don't wait—hit up your vet immediately.
