I look for the story in the weave. I use natural light and minimal retouching to keep the focus on artisanal details, such as the texture of the khadi, the intentionality of the stitches, and the raw beauty of the fabric. Slow fashion is about patience and intentionality. My goal is to capture the weight of handwoven fabrics and the spirit of the people behind the labels. Whether it is the patchwork of a Kantha jacket or the delicate embroidery on a silk kurta, I prefer to work with natural, dappled light that highlights depth without washing out the character of the textile. For my clients like Wandering Silk and Baavli, we move away from the stoic fashion norms and embrace joy and ease on set. This approach results in images that feel authentic to the wearer and the maker. I handle my gear with care, using prime lenses to create that soft, shallow depth of field that feels human. My process for these shoots involves a deep dive into the brand’s ethos before we even pick up a camera. We discuss the mood, the texture, and the story of your artisans.
