I don't believe in 'fixing' dogs, I believe in understanding them. Here is how prioritizing trust, agency, and science-backed methods creates a better life for you and your pet.

## About My Training Philosophy: Partnership Over Performance

Before you hire a trainer, ask yourself if they are using tools like leash corrections, or if they are teaching your dog to choose cooperation. I do not use intimidation to get results. My approach focuses on giving your dog agency, teaching them that they are safe, heard, and supported. A dog who trusts you does not need to be forced to behave.

Many people come to me looking for a quick fix for their dog's behavior. Whether it is leash pulling, separation anxiety, or just general fussiness, the instinct is often to correct, suppress, or command. My philosophy is the exact opposite.

When my own dogs, Candy and Russel, were struggling, I realized that viewing behavior as 'good' or 'bad' was the real problem. I was focusing on my own stress instead of their unmet needs. Are they in pain? Do they have enough mental stimulation? Are they fearful of the environment?

* **Beyond Obedience:** True partnership is not about having a dog that listens perfectly because they are scared of the consequences. It is about building a relationship where your dog wants to cooperate because they know you are their advocate.
* **The Science of Agency:** I utilize force-free, positive reinforcement methods. This is not just about handing out treats. It is about creating an environment where your dog feels safe enough to make choices. When a dog knows their 'no' will be respected, like when I invite Candy to wear her collar and wait for her to opt-in, they become more confident and resilient.
* **Practical Application:** My online masterclasses and training sessions are designed to help you become a better observer of your dog’s body language. We move away from outdated dominance theories that create fear and toward a model of mutual respect. Whether we are tackling resource guarding or just trying to navigate a walk without the leash pulling, the goal remains the same: helping you become the person your dog needs.
