For these themed campaigns, the magic is in the prep—sourcing the right props, building a set that makes sense, and waiting for that one 'candid' glance that brings the character to life. It takes patience, a lot of floor-level play, and a fear-free approach to ensure the animal enjoys the process as much as we enjoy the final result. Great campaign photography isn't about forcing a pet into a costume. It is about understanding their personality and finding a theme that fits them. When I worked on the 'Petflix' series for the CARE calendar, the goal was to reimagine shelter animals as the leads in our favorite TV shows. We didn't just dress them up. We created 'Boney Heist' posters and 'Barkos' setups that felt like real cinematic productions, all while keeping the animals comfortable and stress-free. My process for these shoots is hands-on and collaborative. We start with mood boarding and concept creation to define the vibe. Are we going for a gritty 'heist' look or a cozy, colorful 'home chef' aesthetic? Once the theme is set, I handle the technical side—lighting, set design, and complex retouching—so your brand gets images that look professional, crisp, and high-end, but still retain that raw, authentic personality.
