To make it last longer, I strongly advise keeping it away from water. That means no showering, swimming, or gymming with your jewelry on. Keep them! Throw one into your jewelry box. It sucks up the moisture that causes tarnishing, keeping your earrings and necklaces shiny for ages. It is the easiest, free hack I swear by. I started Pins and Bows because I wanted jewelry that didn't just look good for one party, but actually stayed that way. If you want your pieces to survive more than a single season, you have to play by a few rules. ### The Moisture Rule This is non-negotiable. Artificial jewelry and water are enemies. Whether it is sweat at the gym, chlorine in the pool, or even the moisture in your bathroom, it will speed up corrosion. I always tell my clients: put your jewelry on *after* your makeup and perfume are done. Think of it as the final touch, not the first. ### Storage 101 Stop throwing everything into one big pile. Even if you are tired and lazy after a night out, wipe your pieces with a tissue first to remove any skin oils or sweat. Store them in a proper box with separate compartments. If you are traveling, use smaller, individual boxes. Those little silica gel packets I mentioned earlier? They are your best friends inside these boxes. ### The Price Tag Hack This is a tiny detail that drives me crazy. Never pull off the price tags. They are made of non-tearable material, and pulling them often breaks the piece. Always use a pair of scissors to cut them. It sounds obvious, but you would be surprised how many people break their new favorites by just yanking the tag. ### Invest in Quality When you buy, think about durability. If you are picking up an everyday ring or necklace, check the plating and the base metal. I always push for pieces that offer versatility, because having one great accessory that works with five outfits is better than having ten cheap pieces that turn green in a week.
